Without a doubt, the vertical wind turbine for the home concept has the potential to replace a great deal of our domestically produced electricity. By some calculations there is enough wind in the United States to supply all of our current requirements for power.

If want a realistic shot at changing the electricity we currently consume from fossil fuel to renewable energy, we have to start replacing some of the electricity we now make in power generating plants with wind. Ultimately the way to solve the energy problem though is to push the actual generation of power down to the local individual. This concept is called "distributed generation" and it means just that - making power at homes and factories, rather than at mega power producing plants.

In fact, many manufacturing plants now have the capability to make power out of their own refuse. They can take the trash that they normally throw away and put that in a power generator and make power to offset what they buy from their utility. Until personal power in the form of vertical wind and the like, there has been no way to make the power at homes. But, now that is a realistic possibility.

In many places like California and Texas, that has been going on for a while, but for the rest of o the U.S. that hasn't really been a good option until now.

In terms of making energy that would otherwise be made in a utility power plant, here are the 3 big reasons how we could save:

1. On each roof we can set up a number of vertical wind turbines…because of the tiny amount of space they take up, one roof can be the site of a lot of turbines.

2. Can be placed close to each other…this is a big advantage in that you don't really have to even space them out. The devices can be placed almost right next to each other and the wind that comingles actually accentuates the energy produced by the individual windmills.

3. The power you get out of any amount of wind will be intensified by Roof Effect...this means that the wind accelerates along the roof's contour until it reaches the top, or roof's eve. This is the optimal place for turbines. The vertical wind turbine for the home is also usually well accepted by the neighbors. They are pleasant to look at as they're turning and quite quiet in their operation.

All in all, verticals are a way for us to make the most out of roof real estate and turn it into a mini power generation operation.
