When you want to start a new project it's a good idea to work from a plan. Especially when you're working with something that is as new to most people as a wind turbines purchase. If you don't work from a plan it's easy to get tied up in a lot of insignificant details and never finish the project.

When it comes to wind turbines there are four big steps that need to be taken in order to get the project off on the right foot:

1. Get a good idea of why you are putting in a wind turbine - the first question is how much power do you want to make and why? There are a lot of things you can use the power you make for the home wind turbine. The most straightforward thing you can do is charge batteries. Or, you can power a small device like a pump. Some people even power there whole house or export power to the electric grid.

2. Take some time and create a diagram for how the wind flows ran your property - what you're really interested in is how the wind flows on average. What is your average wind speed? What is your most predominant wind direction? These are the things that you need to understand in order to place the turbine in the right place.

3. Once you understand factors one into it's time to pick out some options for the various wind turbines you could choose - there are two basic types - vertical axis wind turbines and horizontal axis wind turbines. By knowing this basic data about how your wind flows and why you want to make power in the first place, you're a good position to go ahead and seek out the best turbine for your application.

4. The last thing you need to do is develop a plan of action based on those specific things - taking the time to really understand what you are dealing with will make it very easy to come up with a plan.

Finally, before you make any purchases you need to understand if the local government requires you to have a permit. Usually, the restrictions aren't that hard but you do need to take the time to find out if your municipal government has a permitting process and what exactly you need to do to comply with that.

To purchase a wind turbine doesn't have to be all that hard. But, you do have to do your homework to make it flow is easily as it possibly can.
