Blade systems that accomplish that task the best are lightweight, but strong enough to handle the type of winds you will actually be experiencing.
All in all, your purposes of generating power from the wind will be best served by the more substantial/heavier unit.
That type of home wind turbine kit will be less maintenance and a lot less trouble for you. With the current Wind Tax Credit of 30%, the timing is right for home wind technology investments.
